American-born Raheesha, teaches weekly Middle Eastern Dance classes in Somerset, leads the much-loved troupe: Desert Divas and has been the Director of Glastonbury’s Majma Dance Festival since 2007. Her dance career has showcased her on both sides of the Atlantic. Whilst living in Morocco in 1988 she fell in love with the dance, and soon after moving to the United States her dance career took off. She has performed at the illustrious Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, USA and at the UK prestigious Houses of Parliament. She won first place in the UK Eastern Promise 2002 dance competition and has been in constant demand ever since to teach and perform at bellydance festivals throughout the UK and the USA. We’re so excited to bring her to your doorstep in Berkshire for Bellydance Heaven!
11.00am to 1.00pm – Modern “Auana” Hawaiian Hula Choreography
Discover the enchanting beauty of Modern Hawaiian Hula “Auna” dancing. Learn Raheesha’s wonderful choreography to a Hawaiian version of “Colours of the Wind” and optionally perform it at our Snowflake Spectacular Student Show. This is a must if you’re fascinated by the mesmerising charm of hula hips and would like to enhance your personal dance style with heightened attractive fluidity and grace. Watch Raheesha perform a traditional Hawaiian drum piece followed by your Auna dance below.

1.30pm to 3.30pm – American Cabaret Bellydance
American Cabaret bellydance is a theatrical style of dance which is influenced by dances from Turkey, Egypt, and many Middle Eastern countries, as well as Hollywood. AmCab is a full one-woman show which utilises many props, such as zills, veil, sword, and floorwork. Full of glitz and glamour, drama and fun, Raheesha will dance you through the “AmCab show format”. Please note this is not a choreography class, but students will be asked to improvise.
Please bring the following (if you have them…. if not, Raheesha will have a few for you to borrow) veil, finger cymbals, cane, sword, or any prop you like working with. (No snakes please!!!!)
